Bacharach Fyrite Intech and Insight Plus Combustion Analyzers


Combustion analyzers are used to determine the efficiency and safety of fuels being utilized in the combustion process in furnaces, boilers, and water heaters. Analyzers are able to determine the efficiency and safety by measuring a range of parameters such as stack temperature, flue pressure, and levels of gases. Through the analysis of combustion measurements, it’s possible to improve efficiency resulting in lower fuel costs and fewer pollutants being discharged into the air.

An HVAC service technician will use a portable residential flue gas analyzer with O2 and CO sensors and a probe to quickly and accurately acquire the measurements required to improve the combustion process in residential appliances.

Choosing the proper combustion analyzer for your application is usually based on the features, sensors, and measurements the analyzer includes. Bacharach, a US manufacturer, has been making residential flue gas analyzers for over 100 years. The company has two lines of residential analyzers the Fyrite InTech and Fyrite Insight Plus to choose from depending on your needs and application.

The Bacharach Fyrite InTech residential combustion analyzer consists of four different options making it a perfect entry level analyzer for HVAC service technicians. The InTech flue gas analyzer includes direct measurement of O2, CO, stack and air temperature, and calculated measurements of combustion efficiency, CO, CO2 (air free), and excess air for a complete combustion analysis. The CO sensor gas measurement is 0-2000 ppm. It will also store 10 complete test and comes preset with six commonly used fuels in the US.

While all Fyrite InTech kits include a 12’ flue probe, 6’ of tubing, water trap, and a particulate filter, they differ in which sensors, and other accessories such as a wireless printer, rubber boot, and either a soft or hard carrying case are included.

The different kit options are:


  • 0024-8510 includes Fyrite InTech, ONLY the O2 sensor (does not read CO), and soft carrying case
  • 0024-8511 includes Fyrite InTech, both O2 and CO sensors, and soft carrying case
  • 0024-8512 includes Fyrite InTech with rubber boot, both O2 and CO sensors, 3 spare filter, reporting kit (a wireless printer, USB cable, and software), and hard carrying case
  • 0024-8523 includes Fyrite InTech with rubber boot, both O2 and CO sensors, and hard carrying case.

If a few more bells and whistle are desired, Bacharach’s Fyrite Insight Plus line includes a few more features and benefits for the residential HVAC service technician. The Insight Plus includes a full-color graphic display, the exclusive Tune-Rite technology, nine standard fuels with two additional slots for custom fuels, expanded memory slots (up to 100 complete tests), draft and pressure measurements, CO sensor range of 0-4000 ppm, and a CO sensor with an integral NOx filter. In addition, the oxygen sensor life is 3 years.

The exclusive Tune-Rite software is the industry’s first on-demand HVAC assistant which guides a service technician through the combustion process, assisting in suggesting recommended fixes or corrections making the service call as efficient as possible.

All Insight Plus combustion analyzers include a standard kit with a 12” probe, a 6’ hose, water trap, particulate filter, probe stop, 3 spare filters, protective rubber boot, and a hard carrying case.

The two kit options are:


  • 0024-8517 includes the Fyrite Insight Plus, both O2 and CO sensors, and the standard kit above
  • 0024-8518 includes the Fyrite Insight Plus, both O2 and CO sensors, plus the Reporting Kit (wireless printer, USB mini cable, and software), and the standard kit above.

For optimal performance and accurate measurements, all combustion analyzer’s sensors require periodic calibration and replacement. Bacharach’s B-Smart sensors are field replaceable. If an HVAC service technician is participating in Bacharach’s exclusive B-Smart Exchange program, they are provided automatically with pre-calibrated sensors that are field replaceable minimizing down time and providing an easy to maintain analyzer. Both the Fyrite Intech and Fyrite Insight Plus combustion analyzers include the B-smart sensors.

In addition, both the Fyrite InTech and Fyrite Insight Plus are compatible with the user-friendly Bacharach Reporting App which transfers combustion test data from the combustion analyzer to a smartphone or tablet allowing a service technician to view, save, create customized reports, and email directly from their phone or tablet.
