BI Communications TX2001 Handheld TDR Cable Fault Tester has been designed for professionals installing cables or doing troubleshooting of damaged wiring.  The TX2001 TDR cable fault tester shows graphs representing various cable faults such as opens, shorts, splices, taps or even water ingress into a cable.  The maximum distance measured by TX2001 TDR is 10,000 ft. or 3000m.  The graphical cable fault locator comes with standard tone generator built in for cable identification.  The construction of TX2001 handheld TDR is ruggedized, and dust proof to IP54 standard.  BI Communications TX2001, just like any TDR measures length of the cable, as well as the distance to a fault.  You can use it to troubleshoot all metallic cables; however, you need to know that so called “twisted pair cables”, such as those used for data or telecom networks yield the most accurate results.  When you use any TDR with electrical cables or any other ones, which are not would so closely, the accuracy diminishes by some percent.  The most important principle of using TDRs is to do the measurement from both ends of the cable, so you can increase the accuracy of your reading.  As always, look for some obvious signs, such as new construction in the vicinity, or trees, or anything else that could have caused damage to a cable.  TDR is a great tool and coupled with your observations and analytical mind will provide astonishing results. All TDR cable fault locator from BI Communications are made in England.
