Tramex MEP Moisture Encounter Plus is a precise, hand held, non-invasive, analog moisture tester designed to measure moisture content in wood and other building materials, map the extent of moisture damage in a building, and monitor the drying process of building material and other surfaces. The Tramex MEP features three different ranges of sensitivities, non-invasive penetration up to 1" in depth, wood moisture content range from 5 to 30%, and a 0 to 100 comparative scale for all other building materials.

You need to make sure that the electrodes on the bottom make direct contact with the surface for an accurate reading. In addition, the meter has a hold button that will freeze the reading when measuring moisture content in a difficult to reach area.

The meter is designed with rubber electrodes mounted on both sides of the instrument’s base. One side sends a low frequency signal into the material being tested and the other side reads the strength of the received signal. The strength of the signal is related to the moisture content converted to a percentage value and displayed on the easy to read analog dial.
