Product Overview
The Tramex MEP is a popular moisture meter for service technicians including building restoration techs, water remediation specialists, floor covering installers, home inspectors, surveying contractors, pest control specialists, and roofing contractors because it is non-invasive, readings are precise and accurate, and it's easy to use. When testing an area for moisture, the instrument's analog red, yellow and green dial quickly displays the percentage of moisture level the meter found in that area.
This instrument is widely used in a variety of industries as it can detect moisture through paint, wall paper, ceiling tiles, laminates, brick, roofing membranes, and asphalt composition shingles. It features three ranges of sensitivity and a deep signal penetration to over 1” into the material being tested without damaging the surface. The three sensitivity ranges are Wood & Timber, Drywall & Roofing, and Plaster & Brick. The depth of the signal penetration depends on the material being tested and the meter setting. The meter also has a high moisture audio warning tone that can be enabled or disabled.
How to use it?
The MEP is lightweight and very user friendly. After turning the instruments on, you select the appropriate sensitivity, press the instrument against the surface of the material being tested, and the screen will automatically display the percentage of moisture content. You need to make sure that the electrodes on the bottom make direct contact with the surface for an accurate reading. In addition, the meter has a hold button that will freeze the reading when measuring moisture content in a difficult to reach area.
The Tramex Moisture Meter is also useful to the Pest Management Professionals as research has indicated that termites have a preference for wood with a high moisture content. In fact, wood with a moisture content of 20% could be an indication of termite activity. However, the focus should not just be on moisture prone areas as termites can relocate water to dry areas as well. Pest management inspectors have found a moisture meter very useful in deciding the optimal placement of above ground bait station as well as assessing the change in moisture level before and after treatment.
Why this instruments is so accurate?
The meter is designed with rubber electrodes mounted on both sides of the instrument’s base. One side sends a low frequency signal into the material being tested and the other side reads the strength of the received signal. The strength of the signal is related to the moisture content converted to a percentage value and displayed on the easy to read analog dial. It is a simple solution, yet accurate, as Tramex meters go through a stringent quality control process. Tramex MEP has been a best-selling moisture meter for quite a few years.
All Tramex meter are made in Ireland.
